Hunt Test and Field Trial Training |

The Rug-ged Retriever philosophy has been perfected over many years, validated by our outstanding success in titling dogs at every level of the Retriever Hunt Test and Field Trial programs. We offer in-board training, private handler lessons, and group fieldwork sessions for all experience levels—from beginner to master—to help you achieve your goals in retriever competitions. Every in-board dog receives intense personal attention from an expert trainer six days per week. We never allow assistants to train dogs. To guarantee that each handler and dog gets the time and attention necessary to make the best team possible, we accept a limited number of in-board dogs. We conduct drills and yard work each morning and do marks and blinds in the afternoon. Both are critical in the development of high-performing competitors. The outcome is that we build—and consistently validate and reinforce—retrieving skills and behaviors in a disciplined, step-by-step process. We encourage your active participation throughout training, and we provide regular, progress reports on how your dog is progressing.
